Newborn Photography F.A.Q's
As a specialist baby and children's photographer, we get asked lots of questions and advice from new and expectant parents about Newborn Photography. It's totally understandable to want to know what to expect and to know how it all works so we are always happy to answer any questions you may have. With this in mind we have put together the answers to the most commonly asked questions to help our clients find the information they need.
When is it best to book a Newborn Photography Session?
Newborn Sessions are normally taken within your baby's 1st couple of weeks. This is because your baby will still be sleepy and comfortable in classic newborn poses. They are still what we call 'Curly' and love to be wrapped up and curled up as it is how they have been for the last 9 months in mummy's tummy.
We take bookings for Newborn Sessions anytime after your 20 week scan. We can get booked up quite far in advance so recommend booking early to avoid disappointment. We will make a provisional booking for 10 days after your due date and we can adjust this if your baby is early or late.
How much is a Newborn Photography Session?
Our Newborn Photography Sessions are £50 and that includes your photo shoot (which will be approx 2-3 hours) at our boutique studio which is warm, safe and comfortable for you all. We are fully trained in baby safety, fully insured and have over 18 years experience as a professional baby and children's photographer.
Often price is the main consideration for parents shopping around for a photographer, which we can understand but we also recommended doing a bit of research into other aspects before deciding on who will be right for you and your baby.
Lets face it...your baby is the most precious thing in your world so it's important that you trust your newborn photographer to handle and pose your baby safely and professionally.
With all our years of experience we have put together a great collection of products and wall art options to suit everyone's tastes. Prices start from £30 for individual portraits and packages from £200. As a guide our clients tend to invest between £300 and £1000 on their Newborn Sessions and we help everybody to find the products to suit their budget and that they are going to cherish for a life time.
This isn't my first baby, can I include other children on the Newborn Session?
We love to include big brothers and sisters on our Newborn Sessions and there is no extra charge for this. Our studio is spacious and we have lots of toys and books to keep your little ones entertained during the photo shoot. We don't want you to worry about how they may perform in front of the camera and we keep everything relaxed and enjoyable for you all. We have lots of tricks for even the most excitable toddler to capture them safely and beautifully with your new addition to the family.
How long until I can see my baby's portraits?
We book your viewing session in for approx 1-2 weeks after your Newborn Session. You are given a full product list after your portrait session to take away and read through so that you know all the options available to you. Our viewing area in our studio is designed to help you see and choose your favourite portraits and we are experts in helping you find what suits you. There is never any hard sell or pressure to buy although our clients do find it hard to resist their beautiful portraits.
Can I buy the digital portraits on USB?
Yes we have lots of options including digital collections starting from £190 as well as having collections that include printed portraits, albums and wall art along side the digital portraits.
Do I need to bring any props or hats along to my session and what should I dress baby in?
There is no need to bring any props along to your Newborn Session but if there is something personal that your would like us to include on your portraits then please feel free. Our studio is filled with beautiful props and handmade items for you to choose from on your session and you can also let us know in advance if there is anything special you would like use too.
Where is the studio based?
Our studio is based in Saltney, Chester and we have a big, free car park. There is everything you might need for during your time with us including a fully stocked changing table, customer toilets and comfortable seats.
